Your new purchase whether it is a beautiful fountain or unique statuary is sure to be the showpiece of your home or garden. Here are some tips to help you make sure your installation goes smoothly. Fountains and other statuary are very heavy and it is important to have the proper foundation. If you’re installing on a hard surface such as bricks or concrete, we recommend a treated piece of plywood under the base before installation (freezing climates only). If your fountain or statuary will be in your garden, it is important to put a 4” – 8” thick base of gravel/stone down. We recommend you “dig out” the ground and replace the soil with gravel/stone. We recommend the use of gravel/stone about the size of your thumb. (This allows for drainage and leveling of the fountain or statuary.) If you choose to use one of our Circular Ground Preparation Discs, use the same process, but only 4” depth is needed. For flower pots & urns, it is important to keep the drainage hole open. We recommend a piece of landscape fabric or screen be put over the drainage hole before planting. For larger planters, we recommend filling the planter half full of gravel/stone if the full planting depth is not needed. All of our fountains are self contained and do not need a water source. Depending on factors such as wind, temperature, splashing and design, you will need to add water regularly. You will need to have a 3 prong 110V GFCI outlet near the fountain. Most of our fountains only have a 3 – 8 ft cord length once installed in the fountain. If you do not have an outlet, you will need to consult with a licensed electrician. We recommend following the manufactures instructions include with your purchase. As always, if you have any questions feel free to contact us!
